Ed Crowell founded Cougar Package Designers, Inc. in 1967. In the beginning, Cougar was a cushion-type packaging company focusing on providing protective packaging for the electronics industry. Today, that is still a large part of Cougar’s core business, but during the past 39 years, Cougar has developed into a company of many specialties because of the determination and drive of Mark Cottone. Mark purchased the company from Ed after working as a Sales Rep at Cougar for a number of years. Since that time, the company has grown so continuously that it has been moved to larger facilities several times to accommodate that progression. In addition to providing quality designs and products, Cougar also provides JIT warehousing from its facility in West Chicago and other locations around the country. Cougar has discovered the ease in providing JIT inventories anywhere once the system is in place.

The company has also grown and diversified by adding new product lines to service customers in the Prepared Food Industry. These products include CPET, Dual Ovenable Trays and Containers, Polypropylene Microwavable Trays and Containers, as well as styrene containers for specialty food items. Cougar has developed relationships with major and minor product manufacturers to provide these products to this growing industry.

Several years ago, Cougar added shipping equipment and supplies to the product offering meeting the requirement of many customers for one-stop-shopping. This allows us the ability to provide our customers with anything they need to package and ship their product. As many of our customers ship internationally, Cougar makes sure the products it provides are RoHS compliant.
